Nope.  It doesn’t look like I’m going to make it for this Camp NaNoWriMo session either, unless I can somehow pull off 9000 words in the last three days.  I’m at peace about it, however, because I have written 16,000 new words.  And honestly, for a month’s worth of work, I don’t feel like that’s too shabby.

I started on a story called ‘Kindra and the Karma Eaters’, and I’ll be completely rewriting what I’ve written.  I tried really hard to use first person present, and to do so without sensory filters.  I kept slipping back into filters and past tense, and it became so cumbersome and horrible that I switched gears.  Again, I still want to rewrite it and it has the potential to be a nice little novella, but it just wasn’t happening for Camp NaNo.

So I started writing a non-fiction book that I’ve been wanting to write for a while.  So began ‘Building Pagan Tribes- Practical Advice for Creating Spiritual Connections In Person and Online’  It was great!  I had a really good outline, and it seemed to just write itself.  (I’ve learned my lesson about outlining.  I definitely intend to be a planner from now on.)  The problem is that I really don’t have THAT much to say about the topic.  I thought I did.  I could add in all sorts of filler and BS, but that’s just not me.  I knew I was in trouble when I started adding in recipes for the sabbats as filler.  So while I was hoping for maybe 30 or 40K words, it’s stalling out at about 12K.  It just doesn’t want to be any longer than that.  I’ll probably try to rework it a little, and I keep brainstorming new sections to add, but I can only do what I can do.  Maybe I’ll offer it as a $.99 Kindle download?

I’ve also been writing with a great writing group lately.  It’s not a critique group, but just a group of women who get together every other Sunday to write for 2 hours.  For some reason, being in a room with other people that are writing is helping me to churn out some good words.  I love it.

I’m also really wanting to start up the podcast (Bewitching Your Day) again.  I have about 40 episodes recorded already, and I want to get to 365 so that I can release one/day for an entire year.

So that’s my update, which is to say not much of an update really at all.  We had a leak punch a hole in our ceiling, had a tree fall on our cars, lost two ratties, and I’ve had a catastrophic car repair that’s taking up all of our money.   So same old, same old.  But at least nobody is dying.  Yet.  *knock on wood*
